Even if you don't have a lot of time to invest in upkeep, simply following these easy care & maintenance steps can ensure your carpet's longevity.
Daily care & maintenance
Before establishing a daily care routine, consider preventative maintenance. Place welcome mats at all entrances to keep dirt from being tracked across your new carpet. It's also not a bad idea to rearrange your furniture every so often to give your carpets a break. And be sure to take care when moving furniture or other heavy objects across your carpet!
Next, start incorporating some regular care tips into your cleaning routine. For carpet, it's as easy as using a manufacturer-approved vacuum as often as needed, especially in high-traffic areas. When cleaning spills or stains, act quickly and use only a manufacturer-approved cleaning product.
Dealing with spills & stains
No matter how careful you are, your carpet will likely fall victim to the occasional spill or stain, especially if you have kids or pets! Fortunately, many of today's carpet products are built to handle it! However, it's still important to act quickly when a mess occurs so that you don't end up with a stubborn stain.
If a spill occurs, use warm water and a gentle detergent. Blot the stain with a clean cloth. Don't rub! Be sure to then blot the area dry with a separate cloth, taking care not to leave the carpet saturated. If you need to use a cleaning product, make sure it is manufacturer-approved. Never use bleach on your carpet!
